Cross Country: Hampshire League

Introduction

The Hampshire Cross Country League is held and organised by the League.

The league season usually runs from October to February. It comprises five races in Hampshire and neighbouring counties.

The league fixtures for the 2026/27 season are:

Saturday 10 October – Bournemouth AC.

Saturday 14 November – Reading AC.

Saturday 5 December – Aldershot, Farnham & District AC.

Saturday 16 January – TBC

Saturday 13 February – Bournemouth AC

Notes

1 We are grateful to Bournemouth AC for offering to host two fixtures for this season only. This is not sustainable long term.

2 No club has yet volunteered to host the January fixture. We would welcome an offer, even at this late stage.

Athlete Lists 2026-27

May I please remind Team Managers that lists of athletes for the Cross Country season 2026-27 should be being compiled and sent to Liz Flitcroft and Pam Rogers soon for checking and adding to our results databases. As in the past, we are happy to receive lists with additions sent as the season progresses. Some of you may not appreciate the amount of work that goes into the preparation of the results databases, so we would appreciate the lists sooner rather than later and especially not the night before the first fixture, or early on the morning of the first fixture. We would like them by the end of September ideally please. We will be using the new age groups which came into force in April 2026, refer to the Minutes of this year’s League AGM for advice. Please note too that some of the age group categories change on 1^st October so be aware of that.

I have prepared a new format for sending lists, accessible on the website. Also note the age categories for the Veteran Women, I would appreciate it if those categories could be made clear on your lists

Results for the Hampshire Cross Country League (HCCL) in 2025/2026 are:

11th Oct 2025 – Bournemouth – Results can be found: Here

6th Dec 2025 – Winchester – Despite much planning, it is with great regret that Winchester and District AC have to announce that they are unable to host the third HCCL fixture on December 6th. The League Committee regrets that this fixture has been lost from our calendar.

10th Jan 2026 – Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of Aldershot, Farnham and District AC, it has proved impossible for them to host a fixture on 10 January and therefore we regret that this fixture is cancelled. As a result, the League season will comprise only three matches and overall positions for individuals and teams will be decided on best two performances, with ties being decided on third performance. Due to the likelihood of very close scores and consequent risk of errors, no awards will be made on the day of the final match (7 February at Reading) but instead at the League AGM.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Hampshire Cross Country League will be held at Eastleigh Leisure Centre on Friday 26 June at 7.30 pm.

Any proposals for changes to the Constitution or Competition Rules must be emailed to the League Secretary (alanive2@gmail.com) by 12 June.
