As many athletes in the lower half of their age group for English Schools this year are having to throw a heavier weight than at their club competitions, we have organised an event for throwers to throw the ES weights and try to achieve a qualifying mark.

This event will only be for throwers who are affected by the different weights. Throwers who are using the correct weight for English Schools in their club competitions do not need this event.

Therefore, the only throwers this event will be available for are the following:

• Shot Put - Year 8 boys (4kg), Year 10 boys (5kg), Year 12 boys (6kg), Year 8 Girls (3kg), Year 12 Girls (4kg)
• Discus - Year 8 Boys (1.25kg), Year 10 Boys (1.5kg), Year 12 Boys (1.75kg), Year 8 Girls (1kg)
• Javelin - Year 8 Boys (600g), Year 10 Boys (700g), Year 12 Boys (800g), Year 8 Girls (500g), Year 12 Girls (600g)
• Hammer - Year 8 boys (4kg), Year 10 boys (5kg), Year 12 boys (6kg), Year 8 Girls (3kg), Year 12 Girls (4kg)

The event will not be an official competition and the results will not go on Power of 10. However, it will have proper officials and we will consider any qualifying marks achieved at this event when selecting the team for English Schools.

The event will be held at Down Grange Athletics Track, Basingstoke on Saturday 6th June from 12:30-14:30. Provisional timings are below (subject to how many athletes sign up)

12:30-13:00 - Hammer

13:00-13:30 - Discus

13:30-14:00 - Javelin

14:00-14:30 - Shot Put
