Final update before the County Championships in Basingstoke on 9th and 10th May

Track & Field | 5th May 2026

We are looking forward to welcoming you all to the Down Grange track in Basingstoke this coming weekend (9th and 10th May) for the Hampshire County Track & Field Championships.

For you coming for the first time and perhaps turning off the M3 motorway and onto the Winchester Road towards postcode RG22 5SN, as you get close to town the satnav seems to ask you to take a left onto a very small and hidden side lane. That does not go as far as the track.

Continue driving a few minutes more on the Winchester Road to a big roundabout with multi-traffic lights. Take the first road left and the signs will take you to Down Grange, where there is plenty of parking.

Unfortunately for those coming by bus/coach there is not enough space for these to park. Athletes should get off the coach at the road turning to the Down Grange track. The coach can then drive on a couple of minutes to Stratton Park at postcode RG22 5HN where there is plenty of space. At the end of the day's competition, you can phone the coach driver to come and collect you.

During both days of competition the Hockey Club and the Rugby Club, both in the same compound as the athletics track, will be open from 12 noon, offering hot food, either to eat in or take away. Maps and signs will be on display around the track area showing you how to get to these places.

For athletes wanting to change before and after their events, the Rugby Club has kindly offered the use of its changing room facilities.

Have a great day, one and all.
