The league season usually runs from October to February. It comprises five races in Hampshire and neighbouring counties.

Popplewell Trophy 2023

The winner of the Popplewell Trophy for 2023 is Wendy Littlejohns from Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC.

The nomination for this award reads as follows:
"Wendy has supported Hampshire Cross Country events tirelessly for many, many years. In particular she supports HCCL and Hampshire Cross Country Championships. She is extremely reliable, quietly and efficiently getting on with the job! Wendy never seeks thanks or gratitude and is very supportive of fellow officials."

Wendy is without doubt one of the many unsung heroes of the League. We know that if Wendy is working at the finish line, we will get accurate and complete results. Thanks for making our lives easier. Well done and congratulations.

Athlete lists

It's that time again for Team Managers to be thinking about lists of athletes for submission to Pam Bungay and myself. There are new forms to use, including a column for Medical Notes. If you recall, as we don't issue numbers for our races, there is nowhere to list any medical notes, so we rely on Team Managers giving us that information in case of an emergency. As with other details, this information is not kept beyond the current season.

Please note the age categories that we use for Veteran athletes, it may be different to other Leagues or races entered. Pam and I also have a serious plea for Team Managers, to come prepared to the fixtures, with a pen or pencil and if necessary somewhere to keep the results envelopes dry, for instance a clipboard. If you are new to the role, please ask, Pam and I are always willing to help, as at the end of the day, it makes our jobs easier and means we are able to produce correct results more quickly.

May we please have the lists by the middle of October in order for us to check athletes' EA numbers before the start of the season. Many thanks.

December fixture host needed

As you will see from the fixture list for the coming season, we currently do not have a host for the 2 December fixture.

If a club does not come forward, this meeting will not take place.

It might be possible for two or more clubs to combine as hosts but this needs to be done urgently.
