Track & Field Championships
5-6 July at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham
Congratulations to all the athletes who represented Hampshire &
Vectis Schools at the ESAA Track & Field
Championships. The team won the Hendon Council Trophy for Inter
Boys, won the Boys' overall competition, came third in the Senior Boys' and Junior Girls'
competitions, and fourth in the Inter Girls' and Junior Boys'
competitions and Overall.
Individual medals went to:
GOLD (7): Kierra Barker (IG High Jump); Millie Cavanagh (JG Shot); Adam Jones (JB High Jump); Leslie Parkes (IB Hammer); Katya Oldfield (JG High Jump); Nick Percy (SB Discus); Inter Boys' Relay Team;
SILVER (6): Oliver Bromby (IB 100m); Leanne Davies (IG Javelin); Andrew Douglas (JB Pole Vault); Eddie Jenkinson (JB Discus); Andrew Mead-Briggs (IB Discus); Jacob Ness (IB 400m);
BRONZE (4): Jordan Campbell (IG Javelin); Charlie Maw (IB Pole Vault); Henry Ridgers (SB Shot); and Tom Sear (JB High Jump).
Altogether, 35 athletes finished in the top eight of their events,
including 6 4th's, 3 5th's, 4 6th's, 1 7th and 4 8th's. Including those
set in heats, 31 athletes achieved National Standards and 24 achieved
Entry Standards, while 18 athletes managed Personal Bests.
And Hampshire has five Internationals: Oliver Bromby, Jake Ness, Andrew Mead-briggs, Leslie Parkes and Kierra Barker.
47 athletes contributed to team points for Hampshire including the relays. It was a superb performance - the best I can remember in a very long time.

In addition, Sam Wallbridge (1st, IB 400m Hurdles) and Shadine Duquemin (1st, SG Discus) won their events while representing the Channel Islands.
