England Athletics Consultations with clubs

England Athletics has announced dates for a series of Spring 2013 Consultation Events, with two sessions for the South East. The events will focus on:

• Affiliation - including pricing and processes.
• Governance - including how we work to ensure democratic processes for England Athletics work effectively.
• There will be ample opportunity to discuss other topics and share views to help shape future policy.

South East (Two events - Oxford & Crawley)

Track Assessors

Satellite Clubs

All sports are being encouraged by Sport England to set up Satellite Clubs. The aim is to get more 14-25 year olds continuing to participate in sport by offering convenient local opportunities and then to help them "transition" to an established club. Please contact Chris for more information.

Disability Competitions - Update from Liz Purbrick

Please see the information below regarding competition opportunities for disabled athletes.

There may be disabled athletes already training in clubs who are not classified and may not know they can compete as a disabled athlete.

A number of County Championships across the UK will be promoting Parallel Success events sanctioned by UKA and IPC (usually Middlesex). A number of others have integrated events. There are also a growing number of inclusive open meetings including the Saucony Hampshire Grand Prix.

Online entries for both the England Athletics Open, Senior and Age Group Championships and Birmingham Games will be available soon.

A Course for Head Coaches and Coaching Coordinators - Supporting Coaches Workshop - Winchester (Date to be confirmed)

England Athletics has been working with sports coach UK to develop a course to support coaches. The workshop, which has been co-developed with sports coach UK will help clubs to successfully recruit, develop and retain local athletics coaches through sharing useful recruitment tools and methods of retaining coaches; all backed-up by examples of good practice from Athletics Clubs across the South.
