Hampshire Cross-Country League
Popham Match on 4 December POSTPONED
After a Course inspection this Thursday afternoon made by Hampshire Cross Country and Basingstoke Officials it has been decided that with regret to postpone this Saturday's Hampshire Cross Country League event at Popham.
The heavy overnight snow to a depth of 6 inches has meant that a number of factors have come into play. Although the nearby A303 is open and useable and the Site Manager was happy to let us make the decision it was clear there would be great difficulties in staging the event this Saturday.
Firstly the Course was covered in deep snow in the hollows which would have made it difficult to run over especially for the early races.
Secondly there was a problem with the Car Parking and a concern that cars would get stuck.
Thirdly the providers of the Portaloos and the Refreshment Vehicle could not guarantee being there especially as the Portaloos had to be delivered tomorrow, Friday.
As a result we decided reluctantly to postpone the event this weekend.
We will now try a rearrange the event for Saturday 18th December, we are aware that this could cause difficulties, however with the weeks after Christmas very congested and the season not halfway through yet, we feel it is the only option.
