Latest news

Many thanks to Mick Anglim of Hardley Runners and all his colleagues and volunteers who helped the day happen. I was pleased with the way the course held up after all the rain we had, but a few of you looked a bit splattered as you finished. Thanks too to those athletes, families and Team Managers who waited for Alan and me to produce the results for presentation today. Believe me, we were cold too!

Please don't forget to consider a recipient for the Popplewell Trophy, a nomination form can be found below.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Last Saturday we saw the Good, the Bad and the Ugly in our sport:

The Good

Thanks to Mick Anglim and his Hardley Runners club members for a very well organised event at Dibden. This was also made possible with the good support of the volunteer marshals from league clubs.

The Bad

Mick had spent a lot of time in the previous weeks negotiating with a local College and Church to arrange car parking facilities. Instructions were clearly shown on maps sent out and on the website.

Unfortunately many of you completely ignored these instructions and parked in Roman Road and Oak Road. This caused great inconvenience, annoyance and some danger to local residences.

The Ugly

To make matters worse the driver of a Seat Ibiza parked his car across a householder's drive and failed to move it although requested to do so over the PA system.

The householder wished to set off on a 600 mile journey.

The inconsideration of those who did not use the designated parking facilities will have made it impossible to use the Dibden Inclosure again for a Cross-Country fixture.

This follows similar problems that lead to Overton Harriers losing their course at Ashe Park.

PLEASE IN THE FUTURE OBEY ALL INSTRUCTIONS SENT OUT SO OUR SPORT CAN CONTINUE, AS IT IS GETTING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN COURSES.
