Alton Sports Hampshire Cross Country League
We are pleased to have received support and sponsorship for the Hampshire Cross Country League for the next two seasons from Alton Sports.
They will be attending most of our fixtures, offering an excellent range of running clothing and accessories.
The league season runs from October to February and comprises five races in Hampshire and neighbouring counties.
Thanks to Basingstoke and Mid Hants for hosting the fixture in such foul weather. It was very difficult reading some names on wet envelopes, so check for correct spellings please. I am still needing information about runner 71 in the U13 Girls' race. I have the position ticket, but don't know the runner's name or club. If you can help with those details I would be grateful.
There will be a chance for Under 11 athletes to race at the next match on 5 December, organised by Bournemouth AC:

Despite City of Portsmouth AC's best efforts to secure a course for our November fixture, it has proved impossible. We DESPERATELY need a club to volunteer a course, with all the associated marshals etc or we will NOT have five fixtures.
Basingstoke's match at Popham Airfield has now been moved to November, in order to give any club time to put together a course, measured, permitted, marshalled and with First Aid cover for February, but we need a response NOW. I cannot stress this enough, if you want your League to continue to be the success that it has been, we need your help. Failing that, the Reading fixture in January will finish the season.
Any prompt replies please to the League Chairman, Ken Littlejohns.
Popplewell Trophy 2015
The winner of the Popplewell Trophy for the season 2014-15 is Helen Dobinson of Andover AC. She was presented with the trophy at the first of this season's fixtures, at Farley Mount, Winchester.
Helen is a Coach at Andover AC, and has been the Team Manager for the younger age groups for many years. She works tirelessly on behalf of the athletes, often to be found on race days walking the course with the younger athletes. She is also one of the first Team managers to return the completed envelopes to the Results Team. At the end of last season, Helen even donned spikes and competed for the Senior Ladies!!
Helen is our first female recipient of the Popplewell Trophy that was set up to acknowledge the work of coaches, parents, helpers and athletes from the affiliated clubs. Money to pay for the trophy, and engraving the names of the recipients each year, came from donations from the clubs themselves.
