Many thanks to Salisbury for today. The weather was fairly awful I understand, not that I got a chance to see for myself. Congratulations to all trophy winners today, and well done for competing at each fixture in order to win your medal/trophy.
Please take some time to think of someone from your Club who deserves to be acknowledged for their work in supporting your Team throughout this season. Apologies to anyone who we have missed from the list, and if you're still in and don't want to be, sorry, we'll get it sorted by next season, honestly!

Under 13 Girls
Josie Czura (City of Portsmouth) capped a title-winning season by registering her fourth win out of five in the first race of the day. Kirsty Walker (Reading AC) and Grace Copeland (Wimborne) were missing, but these three had monopolised the top three places in earlier races, which earned them their medals. Aldershot, Farnham & District completed a 100% winning season to take the gold medals.
Under 13 Boys
Matthew Rawlings (Reading AC) completed the perfect season by winning all five races. Archie Ives {Winchester & District) finished in second place, confirming his overall silver medal, and Tom Bourne's (Wimborne) previous results gained him third place. Reading AC also took the team trophy.
Under 15 Girls
Lucy Wildash's win for Basingstoke & Mid Hants leapfrogged her into first place for the season, and Daisy D'Santos (Aldershot, Farnham & District) had to settle for the silver medal. Becca Pantony (AFD) and Bridget Dence (Bournemouth) finished neck-and-neck for second and third in the race, but both have the consolation of season's medals. Aldershot, Farnham & District secured their second 100% team success.
Under 15 Boys
Jack Boswell (Aldershot, Farnham & District) had already secured the Under 15 Boys' title, so could discard his fifth place at Salisbury. Club colleague Nathan Gibson's race win gave him second place in the league, leaving Mahamad Mahamad (Southampton) to take third. Aldershot, Farnham & District had already as good as won the team title.
Under 17 Women
Jess Gibbon (Reading AC) won by 48-seconds, so she won the gold medal unbeaten, while Basingstoke & Mid Hants' Charlotte Chalwin and Gemma Wildash's silver and bronze medals had to be decided on countback. Basingstoke & Mid Hants took the team prize, also with a 100% winning record for the season.
Senior, Veteran and Under 20 Women
Laura Brenton (Southampton) took advantage of a below-par result from the Aldershot, Farnham & District squad to snatch the Women's individual title for the season. Claire Arnold (AFD) took silver, and leading Under 20s Mel Wood (also AFD) and Jennifer McLachlan (Winchester & District) finished third and fourth. Aldershot, Farnham & District had done enough previously to secure their third team title of the season.
Absences on the day left the field clear for Julie Rayfield, Debbie Taylor and Susan Francis to take a remarkable quartet of individual and team veteran medals for Reading AC.
Under 17 Men
Stephen Simpson's (Southampton) race win catapulted him from fourth to first position in the league competition, ahead of Matt Arnold (Aldershot, Farnham & District) and Oliver Butler (Basingstoke & Mid Hants). Basingstoke & Mid Hants were second team on the day, but won the league title as closest rivals Aldershot, Farnham & District failed to complete a team.
Senior, Veteran and Under 20 Men
Steven Connor (Aldershot, Farnham & District) repeated his Bournemouth win, but having missed the first two matches of the season, was ineligible for the league title. That went to Matthew Bennett (Southampton), followed by James Baker (Chichester Runners) who missed Salisbury, and Ben Bradley and Oliver Lockley (both Aldershot, Farnham & District) who were the two leading Under 20s.
Alan Murchison (Winchester & District) gained his fourth veterans' win in four races to take the M40 title, and John McCawley (Camberley & District) was the leading M50 runner.
Aldershot, Farnham & District wrapped up their league season with another race win and both the Senior Men's and Veteran Men's league titles, while Wimborne gained the promotion to the top division that they had been working for.

IMPORTANT - Under 13 athletes
A reminder to all that the 2:09 Hampshire Cross-Country League is run under UKA rules, and all Under 13 runners must be 11 years old on the day of competition or 12 years old on 31st August at the commencement of the competition year, in this case 2012 (Rule 507).
It appears that some runners who have competed so far in the Under 13 races have not been 11 years old. Please ensure that your runners are complying with Rule 507.

Statement from the League Chairman
It was brought to the committee's attention that a number of under 11 year old runners were competing in the Under 13 Girls' races at Farley Mount and at Goodwood. An email was sent to all competing clubs reminding them that the League is run under UKA rules and that Rule 507 applies to the age groups in league fixtures, i.e. "Cross-country competitions for Under 13's shall be confined to competitors who are aged 11 on the day of competition or 12 on the 31st August commencement of the Year."
An announcement was given over the PA system at Popham before the start of the meeting reminding Team Managers of this rule. However this was not heeded.
The placings of the under-age athletes have been removed from the results of the above events. The Team Results remain unchanged.
I would remind all that the fairness of results is reliant on the integrity of club coaches and team managers ensuring that they only enter athletes in the correct age groups.

League Chairman
