Match 5 at Dibden Inclosure, 13 February

Dibden Inclosure has hosted the Hampshire Cross-Country Championships on several occasions, most recently in 2012, as well as CC6 League meetings, but this is the first time ever that it has been used for a Hampshire Cross-Country League fixture. For many from outside the county, this will be your first chance to visit this popular and traditional venue. We are particularly grateful to Mick Anglim and his colleagues at Hardley Runners for agreeing to stage the climax of this year's League season.

Maps showing the courses, parking arrangements and assembly details can be downloaded from the Dibden page.

At the Bournemouth fixture in December, many clubs volunteered marshals in order for the last fixture to take place. The clubs were:

  • Ryde Harriers x2
  • Isle of Wight AC x2
  • Southampton AC x4
  • Fleet & Crookham AC x2
  • Aldershot, Farnham & District AC x4
  • New Forest Junior AC x2
  • Stubbington Green Runners & AC x2

We would ask those clubs, and those individual runners/coaches/Team Managers who volunteered, to report to the Chief Marshal (to be appointed) at the Start/Finish area at 11:00, for briefing and distribution of course maps. We wish to thank those volunteers and if any others wish to help out, would they also report at 11:00 please.

Important - coaches and minibuses

The organisers would like to know if any clubs are travelling to Dibden in a coach or minibus, as provision for these vehicles to park needs to be made. Would you contact or with this information please.

We are pleased to announce that there will be U11 boys' and girls' races at Dibden Inclosure. The boys' race will start at 11:30 and the girls will start at 11:45. The course will be 2km with 2 flat laps all on grass.

The competition is open to all year 4, 5 and 6 children who are under 11 on the race day. Year 6 children over 11 on race day and who are not ready for the Under 13 race can take part in the Under 11 event.

Please if your child would like to enter (with their full name, club and date of birth). The numbers can be picked up on the day of the race and there will be a 1 registration fee per child.

Popplewell Trophy 2015

Helen Dobinson receives the Popplewell TrophyThe winner of the Popplewell Trophy for the season 2014-15 is Helen Dobinson of Andover AC. She was presented with the trophy at the first of this season's fixtures, at Farley Mount, Winchester.

Helen is a Coach at Andover AC, and has been the Team Manager for the younger age groups for many years. She works tirelessly on behalf of the athletes, often to be found on race days walking the course with the younger athletes. She is also one of the first Team managers to return the completed envelopes to the Results Team. At the end of last season, Helen even donned spikes and competed for the Senior Ladies!!

Helen is our first female recipient of the Popplewell Trophy that was set up to acknowledge the work of coaches, parents, helpers and athletes from the affiliated clubs. Money to pay for the trophy, and engraving the names of the recipients each year, came from donations from the clubs themselves.
